Sean M. Monaghan has been creating artwork since childhood and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree at University California at Santa Cruz in 1983. He and owned and operated Donatello’s Gelato cafe on Pacific Avenue in Santa Cruz from August 1983 until the Loma Prieta Earthquake in October 1989. Sean established the Bronze Works foundry in December 1992, specializing in casting sculpture in bronze.
Sean earned his MFA in Spatial Arts from San Jose State University in June 2000 and has taught sculpture at UCSC since Fall 2000. He also taught sculpture at Cabrillo College from 2004-2020, while continuously operating the Bronze Works foundry and creating many small and large original sculptures around the local and wider communities.
